IMASE statement on the killing of Iranian scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The murder of Muslim scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan in Tehran as he sat in a car on the way to work is a shameless and criminal act. This follows the murders of Professor Masoud Ali Mohammadi of Tehran University, Majid Shahriari and several attacks on Muslim scientific institutions in recent years.

The late Mostafa was a married man just 32 years of age and father of a young boy. Our condolences go out to the deceased's family and close ones, and we pray that Allah raises him in the company of His own close ones, and forgives all his shortcomings. The sight of a scholar's blood on the street is indeed sad. The event and its aftermath have been reported on widely in the international press. [Al JazeeraGuardian]

IMASE calls on relevant justice systems in Iran to investigate this incident carefully and thoroughly and act appropriately.  Every nation and community has a right to defend itself and the right to human dignity.

IMASE calls on all nuclear armed powers to decommission their own weaponry before seeking to police the nuclear programmes of others.

IMASE calls for greater protection of aql (intellect) in its many forms, and urges believers to nurture an autonomous, living and indigenous knowledge culture in the Muslim world. We reject the logic and interests that would extol the virtues of assassination over alternative politics, and reject the war drums that are being prepared for Iran.

Best regards

The IMASE Team
